Here's what was on my desk today...

I had a custom order to make for the farmer's market tomorrow. Just sayin', it's gonna be in the 30's when I get there....I can't wait for that! Maybe next time I'll show you what the bag looks like.

I made myself a yummy cuppa decaf. Yes, I like whipped cream and sprinkles on my coffee. Don't you?

I can't wait to try some recipes in the new cookbook I bought last night. There are some good ones in there just calling my name.

I may start with this one. Chocolate + Caramel + Butterscotch = yes please!

This Sunday will be my last farmer's market (yay!) and then I can really start thinking about Christmas and crafty things I want to do for myself and baking and lots of other fun things. Cool.

Monkey Coffee

A little while ago I received a request to use some of my Flickr photos in an article on nowpublic.com. I generally agree when I get these requests, I see it as free publicity. Anyway, I went on the site to check out the article and I had to point it out to you. Not only does it feature some great monkey photos (I love the monkey in the latte), but it's pretty interesting stuff.


I have to admit that what really struck me was the bit on top linking to an article about gourmet cat poo coffee on Wikipedia. Where have I been? Gourmet Cat Poo Coffee? ewwww

Seattle's Best

Here's my morning cup of coffee in action. Notice I have the same mug as the famous Gromit of Wallace & Gromit fame.

I meant to tell you about my favorite coffee in this post, but I got so wrapped up in my new cuddly toy that I kind of lost track. haha We stopped in to get a coffee at Seattle's Best this weekend and I have now confirmed it as my favorite brand of coffee. Nick and I tend to put a lot of cream in our coffee, we don't like it strong. What's great about Seattle's Best is that I can put a little cream in and still drink it. I love it. It has a very smooth flavor. They also have a blend that's named after a ginger cat. How could I resist that? His name is Henry and we had to adopt the plushie version. He just reminded me so much of my Jody (minus one tail). He even has the same little white feet & pink toes! So cute.

This past weekend Nick & I traveled to Ahwahnee to visit out friends Jim & Julie who are hosting our wedding at their home. We met some other friends there to talk about the sound & lighting for the event. I'm so glad to have worked in entertainment at Disneyland so long. I can't tell you what it's done for my wedding. Most of my best friends are techs at Disney, so the lighting and sound will not only be exactly what we want, but excellent (and nearly free). The place is shaping up for Spring too. The grass is coming in, flowers are popping up. Jim & Julie have really done a lot of work on their property to prepare for the event (Julie's really happy to be getting so many things done too). Nick and I are soooo lucky to have such nice friends.

Ahwahnee is about 20 minutes from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park.

Now I must return to the sweat shop. I'm way into the production of my dress and still have a long way to go. Yesterday I finally got to sew some pieces together. I nearly have a bodice now. Maple was so helpful!

She's really just interested in my toast. Naughty girl.

Shout Out

Wanna see the coolest zipper pouch ever?

This "dork" pouch is my latest Etsy acquisition, and do I ever love it. The shop is FriedOkra and she makes the most unique pouches I've seen. Hand embroidered lettering, rick rack, monkeys...what more could you ask for? Please do yourself a favor and check her out. (The sock monkeys are great too.)

And, while I'm in a shout out kind of mood, I'll let you in on a surprising find. Actually, Nick spotted this at the grocery store. I'm a huge fan of all things pumpkin flavored so I was definitely intrigued. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of instant coffee, but this stuff is pretty good.

Sometimes I just don't feel like brewing coffee, but I want a tasty hot drink. It takes 4 teaspoons of powder to make this, but it's got a lovely smell and it really does taste good for instant fake coffee. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

The Raspberry Bullet

Every day, I pretty much do the same thing. Get up, make breakfast, walk to the train station with Nick, come home, make coffee, go upstairs & get to work. I usually spend an hour or two on the computer, sometimes more, then get to the sewing machine. Pretty standard stuff, eh?
Well, it seems that I have developed a bad habit when it comes to my morning coffee. I can't seem to finish it, certainly not while it's still hot. I'm pathetic. I must run downstairs & heat up my coffee three times a day. I always end up throwing half of it away in the end.
So yesterday I decided to give my fancy Starbucks thermos (a velentine's Day gift from Nick) a try. It's really cool looking, kind of irridescent. Anyway, it's not the kind you drink out of, it's just to keep the coffee hot for a while. It has a great pouring spout with a button thingy, and it doesn't even leak. I pour a tiny cup of coffee, drink it down, pour another one, drink it down - still hot. Remarkable! So glad I decided to give an invention a shot at solving my problem, & thank you Starbucks for selling cool looking thermoses.
