Back from a Much Needed Vacation

I bet you thought I disappeared, huh? Actually, I did for a while. Nick and I have been super busy around the house, his parents were here for a week and will be back for another visit soon. We used their arrival as an excuse to get some projects done around the house, so we were very busy in April and May (I'll share some pictures soon).

We went on a gorgeous day trip through the Cascades when Nick's parents were here, this is just one of my photos.

Last night we got back from a 10 day trip to California. We spent some time with our friends who let us get married at their house a couple years ago. We went on a great hike while we were there.

 

 The weather was a little hot for my taste (that's easy to do), but it was a beautiful day.

Next we headed down to the OC and, of course, went to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure.  I think of Disneyland as my home, so it was great fun to visit.

This is my favorite body of water at the resort. It always looks so refreshing!

It was nice to get away for a while but I'm so glad to be back! Sorry about the blog break, I didn't mean to be gone for a whole month. 

Disneyland!!

Did I ever tell you that I used to work at Disneyland? Yep, for almost 15 years! And no, I'm not tired of it. I still love the place, and this week I got to pay a quick visit to the Happiest Place On Earth.

I had a great trip but I'm up to my eyeballs in monkeys now. Back to work.

I'm happy to report that I was not chosen as a juror yesterday. YAY! Although it was very interesting listening to the jury get selected, I was on the edge of my seat every time a name was called. Thank you jury duty gods! Now, back to work.
Yesterday was actually an exciting day in the end. When I got home from the Civic Center I found that my friendly neighborhood mailman had delivered a wonderful box from Canada. Isn't it great when you forget that you're expecting something and then it shows up? Yesssss.

Before you gasp and exclaim what an ugly dish I've purchased, let me give you the back story. When I was growing up, we lived about 15 miles from Disneyland. Needless to say, I was lucky enough to go there quite a lot as a kid and I loved it. I mean L-O-V-E-d it. Still do. My mom used to have this dish on her knick knack table in our living room (there was even a bowl of fake grapes on that table - lol). I can remember dusting it at about the age of 8, so it really stuck in my mind. Later on in life I ended up working at Disneyland, from 1992-2006. It's sort of a huge part of my identity. So when I saw this dish in a Storque article on Etsy about a week ago, I instantly bought it. Gasp! I was so happy to find it. I know, I know, it's hideous, but the memories are so worth it. And a quick thanks to greenhearts for sending it so quickly from beautiful British Columbia!

Feeling Mooshie

This week I received emails from 2 long lost friends and it's made me feel a bit nostalgic and mooshie, especially about Disneyland. For those who don't know it, I used to art direct events there. I worked for the mouse for almost 15 years! Craziness. Though I completely don't miss the job, I do miss the park. It was nice to be able to go out for a walk sometimes and end up in front of Pirates of the Caribbean or on Main Street, USA. Ahhh, those were the days. I guess it's this time of year too. Don't you just feel different in the Fall? I really love it.

Two years ago, this month, I took my first trip ever to the UK. It was my third date with Nick, I stayed a week. I guess that worked out pretty well in the end. :)

And if I'd never gone to Nova Scotia, I wouldn't even have met Nick. Thank goodness I decided to stay at Knightswood B & B in Dartmouth the first time I went. Thanks Bill & Norma! I took this picture at a place called the Lookoff (for obvious reasons) in November 3 years ago. Sigh. I'm gonna go cuddle my kitties now. Have a great weekend!
