Actually Crafting

After spending a lot of time away from home the last month or so, it's nice to be back to work. I spent at least half the day in my sewing room yesterday. I got a custom order done for this bag using fabrics I had on hand. My original plans for these fabrics were to make something for myself, maybe a quilted backpack, but I haven't gotten to it. I suggested these prints to a repeat customer and she loved them. I hope she likes the bag when she gets it, I think it came out really nice. I enjoy making this style, but it is very time consuming. While I worked on this version, I made a second one for my farmer's market booth and shops. I also whipped up a matching zipper bag, but I sold it today before I even got to take a picture. No complaints here.
Actually, I had a great day at the market today. I sold a few of my more ancient items and some new ones too. I'll be back at the sewing machine tomorrow, I've got several orders to fill. Just wanted to show off some of my new stuff. I've been working on a new monkey item as well. I was going to call them Monkey Keys, but they're not keys so, well, anyway. It's a mini Gadget Monkey Key Chain. I listed this one tonight, we'll see what happens.

I'll probably take my friend Jenn's advice and photograph them with something more gender neutral to show the size, maybe a key, I don't know. HeHe, excellent advice Jenn.

Not just unpacking

I just wanted to mention that I'm still sewing. I spent a good part of yesterday on emptying boxes & building shelves for my sewing room, but I got to do a bit of sewing too. I bought the fabric for this bag about a month ago, wanting to add another one of these bags to my shops. Here's the result.

Maybe tomorrow I can make some small stuff. I've got booties cut out and really want to make some new pennants. Gotta prep for my craft booth. I will need lots of things on display when I set it up and take pictures.

Now I'm off to chop up some of the yummy veg I got at the Farmer's Market yesterday. mmmmmm

Etsy Love #5 - Felt at Home

I stumbled upon Felt at Home while I was living in the UK, I think I found them through the forums on Etsy. At the time I thought it was so cool to see other Etsy shops that were UK based, haha. Anyway, they are a 2 sister team based in Birmingham. (I've actually been there for a quilt show believe it or not) They do all sorts of really neat and unique handbags & purses from hand felted English merino wool. Their bags are so different. I love this doll purse especially. She's called Alexandra Elizabeth and her head is actually the handbag. If you check out her page on Etsy, you'll see that she has a zipper hidden underneath her "mass of golden curls". If my niece wasn't getting too old for these things (she's at the "cool" stage now, no dolls) I'd sooo get it for her. I wish I could come up with ideas like this.

Felt at Home also makes bracelets & necklaces so go check out their shop. Their international shipping rates seem very reasonable to me, and I'm speaking from experience here.
