DIY Stickers

As much as I love to send out nice, clean boxes when I mail an order, I just can't bring myself to use a new box when there are stacks of them in my garage. So, I decided to make myself some recycling stickers for those reused boxes.

Step One: If the box has printing or labels on it, remove what you can then take it apart and reassemble the box inside out. It should appear clean now.

Step Two: Get yourself some full-sheet sticker paper at the local office supply store. I use this stuff for everything, address labels, logo stickers etc., etc. Very useful thing to have around.

Step Three: Go online and download some cool recycle symbol clip art from this site or this one.

Step Four: Lay out the clip art of your choice so that they fill the whole page, then print onto the sticky paper. Now cut 'em out.

Step Five: Stick one of your cool new stickers on your box and then proceed to feel good that you've reused a perfectly good box.

I honestly don't mind a pre-loved box if I've communicated that it's recycled.

  1. such a good idea! I re-use every box and envelope that I can so these would be so handy.

  2. Great idea to put the recycle stickers on the box! I will start doing that, since I re-use boxes frequently. Thanks for the links!

  3. Such a great idea! I always reuse my shipping boxes too. Even the priority ones, because you can wrap them if you have to.

  4. The stickers are a great idea. Good for you for thinking of them. I just forwarded on your recycled box that my monkey came in. I drew a continuous arrow and said "the cherry stem supports gadget monkey in her effort to recycle." It was to a fellow blogger who won my pin cushion. :)

  5. I have been known to recycle boxes until they are pretty much held together with tape. We've shipped the same box back and forth to Texas several times. I love your sticker idea!

  8. That is such a great idea! I really prefer to use brand new packaging, but I've recently been thinking about how wasteful that is. Something like this would make me feel less self-conscious about using a sub-attractive box.

  9. i had a stamp made that says "hooray for recycled packaging" and I love it! Very convenient. And i know I would run out of stickers at the worst time. The stamp never runs out!
